Matthew Guerard, Varsity Head Coach
Matt Guerard begins his 5th season as our Boy's Varsity Lacrosse coach. He has compiled a record of 53 wins and 16 losses. In 2010, only their 2nd varsity season, the team was runner-up in the state championship game losing in OT. In 2012, Bedford capped an undefeated season, 19-0, en route to winning the school's 1st Division 2 State Championship.
Coach Guerard has earned Division 2 Coach of the Year honors in 2010 and again in 2012. In 2010, Coach Guerard was chosen by the Union Leader Newspaper as the 2010 New Hampshire Boy's Lacrosse Coach of the Year. A prestigious award given to only 1 boys coach in the state of NH. He has coached 23 All State players, 1 Player of the Year, 1 Academic All American and 1 All American player in his 4 years as our head coach.
In addition to coaching at BHS, Coach Guerard is an active coach and evaluator in the New Hampshire Tomahawks Lacrosse Club. Prior to coming to Bedford High School, Coach Guerard served as the JV Boy's Lacrosse coach at Pinkerton Academy from 2003-2007 and a varsity assistant. He has also coached at the collegiate level, at Catawba College (NC), serving as a defensive and goalie coach.
Tony Grande, Varsity Assistant
Tony has been involved in Bedford lacrosse for 10 years now. He coached in the Bedford Youth Lacrosse Program from 2002-2008, continues to help out with Bedford Youth pre-season skills sessions, and has been an assistant coach at Bedford High School since the very beginning. Tony plays club lacrosse in the local ONELL league, where he has played for the past four years. Tony has also coached several other youth sports over the past 16 years including baseball, basketball, soccer, and most notably football. He served on the Board of Directors for the Bedford Jaguars from 2000-2009 and still enjoys coaching youth football as Head Coach of the Jaguars Flag Football Program.
Roger Howe, JV Head Coach
Roger has been involved in Bedford lacrosse for going on 14 years. He is still coaching for Bedford Youth Lacrosse, one of the largest youth lacrosse organizations in the state with over 400 members. He has been president of the organization since 2006. Roger played his collegiate lacrosse at Kutztown State College in Pennsylvania. He continues to play club lacrosse for the local ONELL team, Granite State Thunder. Along with his involvement in the Bedford program, he has also coached for notable programs, NESLL, NH Tomahawks, and numerous NHYLA select and all-star teams throughout the years.
